Overview
The Galactic Republic was originally a medium-sized, mostly-landlocked nation. After the Second Catastrophe, it is now a large island, with a chain of smaller islands extending outwards. The main island, referred to as the Galactic Center, is temperate, and has good soil for growing. To the west and south are the Quarry Islands, which long ago were mountainous regions, and supply much of the valuable minerals and metal for the nation. The main island has considerable mineral wealth, too, but lacks certain types that are necessary for a modern nation. The Quarry Islands make up for this.
The outermost islands are called the Watch Islands, and have large military bases. The Navy conducts surface and air patrols from these islands, and they work to minimize pirate influence.
