Overview
The Kingdom of Starport is a constitutional monarchy with a population of thirty-five million, spread over a large island with numerous smaller islands surrounding it. King Victor Norman "the Hardhanded" II is in charge of the governance and military of the nation, with ample and able assistance by the parliament and Lord's councils.
The kingdom itself is run in a semi-feudal fashion, but the lower classes elect a parliament, and those of them who show skill in battle or administration can find themselves ennobled, creating a middle class of lower nobility. Starport is fairly well-run, thanks to the middle class, as the upper nobility is mainly concerned with the defense of the nation, and in feats of daring and strength.
The Kingdom of Starport has forged strong ties with the Colonial Republic, based on the martial spirit displayed in many battles with pirates ("every man a warrior" being part of the treaty of mutual defense and support signed between the two, and representative of the line of thinking in Starport). The Colonial Republic has provided them assistance with the construction of their non-noble army sections (dedicated to the basic patrolling and defense of the nation beyond the more stylish battlers of the upper nobility), and in the creation of their more modern constitution.
Starport used to be a more important and significant nation, as they were allied closely with the mages, and could be found fighting where-ever pirates or dangerous influences could be found. With the advancement of technology and the improved capabilities of the other nations, their influence and power have waned somewhat.
